Crisscross Omotesando

Today I went to Crisscross Omotesando to brunch late with my friends from Kyoto!

As we were walking the streets of Omotesando, we saw this restaurant with terrace seats. People were eating pancakes with avocados on the side and huge burgers. We got very interested and decided to eat there.

As we got in our seats, the waitress gave us a card with a QR code. The way they take our order is from a specific website. To be honest, I didn't like their system that much because we couldn't picture how big the amount of food in one order was. Resulting in us ordering too much.

I got buttermilk pancakes with whipped cream, sunny-side-up eggs, and avocado. This dish cost me 1,580 yen. My friend ordered a BLTA sandwich, which cost her 1,850 yen, and grilled sausage with waffle fried potatoes which cost her 1,100 yen.

We also had mac-n-cheese with mixed mushrooms and truffles which costs 1,700 yen.

In total, our bill was around 7,000 yen which is a bit pricey, but it was worth it.

After we ate, since me and my friends haven't met each other for more than a year, we had a long chat about how our lives are now.

Look how happy and satisfied me and my friend are!

It is very interesting how you can have long conversations around the table. I felt that we could connect to each other more by having a meal together and that it enabled me to express my emotions more freely.

Overall, this experience will be one of my core memories with my friends, and I am glad I can write it down on a blog.

  1. I also like choosing restaurants that are relatively "fancy" when eating out with friends who I don't see often. I like how you made your choice of this restaurant so spontaneously. Looking at the photo picturing some of the dishes, they do indeed look like generous portions. Eating the avocado alone would have filled me up.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, some of the restaurants I go to regularly also use the QR code system for accessing the menu (and ordering). I like the fact that it saves paper or plastic, but I agree with you that I would prefer to see large photos of the dishes, which are usually printed on conventional menus. Also, ordering through the app, makes it more difficult to communicate with the waitress or waiter, or to customize an order (essential if you're vegan, like me). I'm afraid that restaurants might be using this as an opportunity to hire fewer staff.

Anyway, I'm glad you had a good time eating and chatting with your friends from Kyoto in a pleasant setting.
